Triangle Wide Horseman’s Association is a non-profit organization that was established in the 1980’s. Membership averages 300 individuals per year, half of which are Youth. TWHA is an Open Breed Association. TWHA shows are opened to all breeds, riding styles and ages. Events are held throughout central NC with show sites concentrated in the Raleigh/Durham area.
TWHA’s goals are to provide a friendly, family-oriented environment where members help one another to develop their riding and exhibition skills. Opportunities for children and adults to participate in equine competition on a local level. Children, parents, grandparents and friends can share their love of horses and become involved in all aspects of horsemanship. The Association promotes good sportsmanship and the well-being of our equine companions.
Shows & Classes
TWHA’s show calendar is set in February of each year. 12-16 shows are held from April and early October. Members receive a monthly newsletter that includes club news, show results, and items of interest to the equine community, class sheets with driving directions for upcoming shows.

YOUTH PROGRAM
We have an active Youth program which participates in parades, cookouts, and community service activities. Our youth are eligible for scholarships and special year end awards. Contact our youth directors for upcoming events and become involved.
Classes are divided into age groups:
Lead Line 10 and under 13 and under 14-18 years 19 and over
All age groups may participate in Novice classes and open classes .
Community Service
TWHA provides scholarship funds for youth members to attend Equine camps and educational seminars. We also have an Emergency Fund which allows us to provide financial support to families and individuals and deserving groups in emergencies and their time of need.
We also sponsor attendance at the 4-H horse camps. We raise funds through raffles and other projects to enable us to expand our youth programs and emergency funds.
Awards
Members riding in at least 50% of TWHA shows are eligible for year end awards.
Shows Awards: Ribbons are given out for the top 5 winners in each class. In addition, First Place winners in youth & Novice classes receive a trophy. First place winners in adult & open classes receive a prize valued at or above the entry fee.
Year End Awards: TWHA holds an annual awards banquet in November of each year. The Awards Program is designed to maximize the number of members eligible for an award.
Medal Awards
Bronze Medal –earning 25-49 points Silver Medal – earning 50-74 points Gold Medal – earning 75 or more points
End of the year Class Awards: Grand & Reserve are given for class that was held at least 50% of the shows.
Overall High Point Awards: Grand and Reserve Youth and Adult awards are given for Halter, Western, Hunt Seat, Saddle Seat divisions.
Albright Memorial Award: This large perpetual trophy was donated by Mattie Albright to honor the late Snook Albright. It is given the Rider & Horse team that accumulates the most points during the show season.
